Wishing Well program exhibits artwork from students in the Triangle area at WakeMed Cary Hospital

Though you may not remember it, the moment you drew your first line with a crayon, or a pencil, or stick in the dirt, you were an artist. Children seem to have an innate and unbridled creativity that so often, dissipates with age, experience, and the trials of life. As artist Pablo Picasso said “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up” (1881-1973). The exuberant creativity of youth is featured in the Wishing Well Young Artists Exhibit at WakeMed Cary Hospital. The program inspires young artists through public exhibition opportunities in the hospital atrium.

Wishing Well is a partnership between WakeMed Cary Hospital, Cary Visual Art, Inc., Explore! Beyond School Center of Cary, as well as public and private elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the Cary community. The exhibitions of artwork by school-aged children enhance the hospital atmosphere for patients, families, medical staff, and visitors.

The artwork on display will be rotated every eight weeks, so be sure to check out the exhibition on a regular basis to see new work. You may visit the exhibition anytime during regular hospital hours of 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. It is located directly to the left of the main entrance. To learn more about how your students can become involved with the Wishing Well program, contact Cary Visual Art at 919-531-8149 or cva@caryvisualart.org.
